Material Characteristics
X80 pipeline steel, as a high-grade steel in the API 5L standard, has a minimum yield strength of 551MPa and excellent low-temperature toughness and welding performance. Fine-grain strengthening and precipitation strengthening achieved through the TMCP process enable the plate to maintain good resistance to brittle fracture at -45℃.
Tank Application Advantages
In the construction of large storage tanks, using 12-40mm thick X80 tank plates can reduce weight by 15%-20%, lowering transportation and installation costs. Its high-strength characteristics are particularly suitable for the dome structure of LNG storage tanks, effectively withstanding alternating loads and low-temperature shrinkage stress.
Welding Technical Points
Use low-hydrogen welding materials (such as CHW-S1) and control the preheating temperature at 100-150℃. When using the twin-wire submerged arc welding process, the heat input needs to be limited to within 35kJ/cm, and stress relief heat treatment at 620℃±15℃ is required after welding.
