Product details
Gear manufacturing is a process of transforming metal blanks into high-precision parts, with the core being the precise formation of tooth profiles and meeting strict performance requirements. The entire process is mainly divided into two stages: gear tooth forming and heat treatment.
For the initial forming of gear tooth profiles, common methods include:
Hobbing: Using a hob, similar to the meshing of a worm and worm gear, to continuously cut out tooth grooves, which is highly efficient and widely used.
Shaping: Using a shaping cutter to move up and down reciprocally, simulating the meshing of two gears, suitable for machining internal gears and double gears.
Milling: Using a form milling cutter to process teeth one by one, mostly used for single-piece, small-batch production.
Gear heat treatment. To improve the durability and strength of gears, processes such as quenching and carburizing are required to make the surface hard and wear-resistant, while maintaining the toughness of the core.
Gear finishing. Gears will deform after heat treatment, so precision processes such as gear grinding or honing must be used to finally correct the tooth profile to achieve the micron-level accuracy required by the drawings, ensuring smooth transmission and minimal noise.
