Product details

Choosing between cast and forged bucket teeth essentially involves weighing the priority between wear resistance and impact toughness, and making the most economical and efficient choice based on specific working conditions.

Cast bucket teeth are currently the absolute mainstream choice. Their manufacturing process involves pouring molten alloy steel into a mold to form the shape. The advantage of this process is that it can produce extremely complex shapes and easily adjust the material composition by adding alloy elements such as chromium, molybdenum, and boron, thereby obtaining extremely high surface hardness and excellent wear resistance. This makes them very suitable for handling highly abrasive materials such as sand, gravel, and rocks of general hardness. However, the internal grain structure of cast materials makes them relatively low in toughness when subjected to extremely strong impacts, posing a risk of fracture.

Forged bucket teeth are formed by applying enormous pressure to a solid alloy steel billet. This process refines and aligns the internal grain structure of the metal, giving the teeth excellent toughness and impact resistance. This allows them to withstand violent impacts without breaking easily in high-impact conditions such as digging mixed with huge boulders or performing crushing operations. However, the disadvantage is that it is difficult to manufacture very complex shapes, and the overall hardness and average wear resistance are usually lower than cast bucket teeth of the same grade.

Therefore, in practical applications, if the working object is a material with high abrasiveness but general impact, such as sand, clay, or uniform gravel, cast bucket teeth should be preferred, as they provide a longer wear life at a lower cost. If the working conditions are extreme and require frequent exposure to huge impacts, such as mining huge rocks, demolishing hard concrete structures, or digging extremely hard frozen soil, forged bucket teeth are a safer and more reliable choice, as they can effectively avoid downtime and safety risks caused by sudden breakage.
