Preferred Balanced Choice: High-Strength Wear-Resistant Steel Plate (Hardox/NM Series)
Reason: Achieves the best balance between wear resistance, toughness, strength, machinability, weldability, and cost.
Recommendation: For the vast majority of medium-to-high wear and tear conditions with some impact risk (such as various crushers, conveying abrasive solid waste, construction waste, wood, general mineral powder), Hardox 450 or NM450 is the preferred choice. Hardox 400/NM400 is suitable for slightly lighter wear or more budget-sensitive situations.
Extreme Wear, No Impact: High-Chromium Cast Iron
Reason: Unmatched wear resistance.
Note: Only suitable for applications with almost no impact from large hard objects, low stress, and easy replacement (such as short-distance conveyor blades for conveying pure mineral sand or fine slag). Be sure to assess the risk of fracture!
High-Impact Conditions: High-Manganese Steel
Reason: Excellent impact toughness and work hardening characteristics.
Recommendation: Crusher feed section blades handling feed containing a large number of unbreakable objects (metal blocks, large stones); impact-resistant parts in mining and metallurgy.
Corrosive Environment: Stainless Steel or Corrosion-Resistant Wear-Resistant Steel Grades
Reason: Corrosion resistance is the primary requirement.
Selection:
Corrosion + Light Wear: 304/316 stainless steel.
Corrosion + Moderate Wear: Duplex stainless steel (such as 2205) or wear-resistant stainless steel (such as AR400F - combining wear resistance and corrosion resistance).
Corrosion + Heavy Wear: May require welding a wear-resistant layer on a corrosion-resistant substrate (complex and expensive).
Economical Solution: Base Steel + Hardfacing/Spraying on Key Areas
Reason: Reduces initial cost, targeted reinforcement.
Applicable: Limited budget; wear is mainly concentrated on the outer edge or propulsion surface; repairing old blades. Ensure hardfacing process and quality.
Lightweight, Non-Corrosive, Hygienic Requirements: Engineering Plastics/Composite Materials
Reason: Meets special performance requirements (lightweight, non-stick, corrosion-resistant, quiet).
Note: Only suitable for light loads, no sharp hard objects, and low-temperature applications.
