Carbon steel screw flights, due to their low cost, good machinability, and high strength, dominate in many non-corrosive material conveying scenarios. Q235B and 45# steel are common choices. However, their susceptibility to rust and general wear resistance are also apparent drawbacks. To address these, a range of surface treatment processes are widely used: applying anti-rust paint and hot-dip galvanizing provide basic protection; spraying wear-resistant coatings (such as tungsten carbide) can significantly improve surface hardness; and more advanced rubber coating offers both wear resistance and noise reduction.
