Product details
Duplex stainless steel tube sheets (such as 2205/S32205) exhibit excellent resistance to hydrogen sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSC) in sulfur-containing environments, with critical stress values more than 3 times higher than those of 316L austenitic stainless steel. This is attributed to the synergistic effect of the high strength of the ferrite phase and the corrosion resistance of the austenite phase in the duplex structure, which effectively inhibits hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC).
Sulfur resistance can be further improved by controlling the nitrogen content (0.08-0.20%) and hardness (≤22HRC). In practical applications, the 475℃ embrittlement range should be avoided, and the recommended operating temperature is ≤250℃.
Typical cases show that 2205 duplex stainless steel tube sheets have been operating stably in H₂S-containing oil and gas separators for 10 years without stress corrosion cracking. Its overall cost is 40% lower than that of nickel-based alloys, making it a preferred material for acidic environments.
